A Bright Future
Think back to the first car you ever owned. If you're age 60 or over, there's a good chance it didn't have air-conditioning, let alone power-assisted brakes or steering. If you're 50-something, you might have had air-conditioning, but you didn't have fuel injection. Those of you who are around 40 might have had a fuel-injected engine in your first car, but you probably drove one of those choked-down monstrosities so prevalent in the early years of emission-control efforts. The 30-year-olds among you had it a lot better, but antilock brakes and traction control were still in the future. Those drivers starting out today have it far better. And, as we've seen, those who begin driving with the arrival of the millennium, or shortly thereafter, will see innovations on their cars that were once only dreams.
